Worldwide serum-based eye drops are successfully used in the treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). Autologous serum (ASEDs) most common but allogenic were introduced many countries mostly because COVID-19 pandemic. Not all aspects product formula have however been worked out so far. Each medical entity involved preparation, packaging and distribution performs according to its own procedures. Various actions therefore undertaken standardize, harmonize exchange experience this field. In 2022 5th edition EDQM’s Guide quality safety tissues cells for human application was issued. Within EU4Health Programme a new group Recommendations Guidance Documents Management Substances Human Origin (SoHO) Hospitals is being formed. International cooperation serumbased users lead establishment working events — Workshops on Drops (EDHO) Serum drop manufacturer’s group. Despite widespread use over world, almost none countries, EU included, there strict legal regulations handling product.
